2. John R from the ski lift on the way down from the summit of La Marmolada, where a couple famous battles between the Italians and Austrian-Hunagarian alliance took place. On the morning visit to this mountain, we got to explore the museam detailing artifacts, pictures and commentary on the war, and the walk the trails which enabled us to visit the tunnels and lookouts, barracks and other places dug out of the mountain.
3. John making the climb on one of the trails, now imagine soldiers close to a hundred years ago, making the same passing in freezing cold temperatures with blowing snow while being shot at.

5. When the clouds cleared we were able to take some beautiful pictures, being close to 2500meters above sea level. We were able to see many of the mountains where we had previously gone hiking.
