From Sunday June 31st until Saturday July 11th, the first year novitiate candidates from the Fraternity of St. Charles Borromeo, along with our two vice rectors, don Matteo and don Jonah, and founder and current rector, don Massimo, had our summer vacation at Colle Santa Lucia, in northeastern Italy, in the Dolomite mountains.
This period of time together was a time of prayer, silence, study, hiking and mountain climbing, being together to put it easily. We had moments of judgement and reflection on what we lived during this past year, and nights devoted to discussions on certain important authors, or movies and boardgames. Probably the biggest highlight was the time spent together preparing our meals, and the dicussions and experiences shared around the dinner table. The heart of Christianity is really centered around the dinner table, something many of the elder seminarians like to say when making excuses to go out to eat, or splurge on an expensive meal together.
These are some of the pictures from the two weeks spent together. A more thorough update will follow in my testimony for the month of July.
